The Green 'M': The Battle for Freedom and Justice in Psychiatry.

Vagabond Unlimited has a new e-book to view, concerning the rights and freedoms of mentally ill people. It covers the arguments to improve treatment and introduce new rights to the process of detention for treatment. Here are the details:

The Green ‘M’: The Battle for Freedom and Justice in Psychiatry by B.C.Bamber.

The psychiatric profession is running out of credibility. Patients have no right to defend themselves against forced treatment and detention without trial. The UN has declared these practices illegal. This book explores the alternatives, the arguments, the science, and the politics of madness.

Longer description:

Psychiatry is on the run. Their dopamine theory of Schizophrenia isn’t proven, and yet patients are forced to take medication based on this theory. Patients are interned and have less rights than criminals. Patients are routinely forced to take medication that they say no to. When they say no, they are pinned down and injected with dangerous and infective drugs, over and over again until they are broken and unable to fight any longer. The UN has declared these practices illegal. The government isn’t interested and neither is the public or the psychiatric profession itself. This book takes this fight for freedom and justice for mentally ill people a step further and attempts to argue that the law doesn't need to be so strict nor the medicine so hard to take.
